Pebbles are amazing in their variety. Like sea glass they are a product of the seas and oceans and, like sea glass, no two pebbles are alike.

Unlike sea glass they need to be worked on to show their best. Pebbles require further tumbling for several weeks to achieve a really smooth finish.

The level of finish that can be achieved depends on how hard the pebble is. Some are too soft to do anything with at all, while some can be highly polished. The majority will achieve a satisfyingly silky sheen.

Also, unlike sea glass, they can be cut and shaped before use. In the image above, the two earrings have been made from slices of the same pebble, whereas the pebble used for the pendant has only been tumble polished.
